Directed by: Michael Winterbottom (A Mighty Heart, 24 Hour Party People)
Cast: Bill Pullman (Surveillance, While You Were Sleeping), Casey Affleck (The Assassination of Jesse James, Gone Baby Gone), Elias Koteas (Shutter Island, Zodiac), Jessica Alba (Sin City), Kate Hudson (Nine, Almost Famous), Simon Baker ('The Mentalist', The Devil Wears Prada)
From director Michael Winterbottom and based on the classic novel by legendary pulp writer Jim Thompson, THE KILLER INSIDE ME tells the story of handsome, unassuming small town sheriff’s deputy Lou Ford (Casey Affleck). A quiet charmer of his idyllic West Texas town, Ford has a simple life and a pretty girl (Kate Hudson) to come home to. But when the job brings him face to face with a gorgeous prostitute (Jessica Alba) on the edge of town, Ford's fragile world cracks – unbridling his own dark urges. In THE KILLER INSIDE ME'S blacker–than–noir universe, nothing is ever what it seems. From the acclaimed director of A MIGHTY HEART and 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE, THE KILLER INSIDE ME is a thrill–ride that Stanley Kubrick called "the most chilling and believable first–person story of a criminally warped mind I have ever encountered."

Directed by: Terence Malick (The Thin Red Line, Days of Heaven)
Cast: Brad Pitt (Inglourious Basterds, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Sean Penn (Milk, Mystic River)
‘Tree of Life’ traces the evolution of an eleven-year-old boy in the Midwest, Jack, one of three brothers. At first all seems marvellous to the child. He sees as his mother (Jessica Chastain) does, with the eyes of his soul. She represents the way of love and mercy, where the father (Brad Pitt) tries to teach his son the world's way, of putting oneself first. Each parent contends for his allegiance, and Jack must reconcile their claims. The picture darkens as he has his first glimpses of sickness, suffering and death. The world, once a thing of glory, becomes a labyrinth.
Framing this story is that of adult Jack (Sean Penn), a lost soul in a modern world, seeking to discover amid the changing scenes of time that which does not change: the eternal scheme of which we are a part. When he sees all that has gone into our world's preparation, each thing appears a miracle precious, incomparable. Jack, with his new understanding, is able to forgive his father and take his first steps on the path of life.

My Afternoons With Marguerite
Directed by: Jean Becker
Cast: Gérard Depardieu
It's the story of one of those improbable encounters that can change the course of one's life: the encounter, in a small public garden, between Germain (Gerard Depardieu), fifty and barely literate, and Marguerite (Gisèle Casadesus), a little old lady passionate about reading. Forty years and 220 pounds separate them. One day, purely by chance, Germain sits down beside Marguerite. She'll go on to read aloud extracts from novels and thereby allow him to discover the magic of books, from which Germain imagined he was excluded for life. Until then, his family circle and drinking buddies took him for an idiot; stupidity will now change places! But Marguerite is losing her sight. For the love of this charming, mischievous and caring grandmother, Germain will teach himself and show her that he's capable of reading aloud to her when she is no longer able to do so herself.
